Summary of WTC Final: The Battle between two Cricketing giants ( NZ vs India):

On 18 June, World Test Championship Final began in Southampton, England. Rain washed out the first day. On 19 June, at the time of Toss, nothing new happened. As usual, Virat Kohli lost the toss and Williamson chose to bowl first. After a slightly good start, India’s first innings ended with the team scoring 217 runs. New Zealand responded with 249 runs. To Indian fans’ despair, Team India didn’t field well as well in this final.

India began their second innings with 32 runs trail. Shubman Gill got out early, just like in the first innings. At the end of Day 5, Rohit Sharma was also in the pavilion as well.

Reserved Day (6th Day) happenings:

The sixth day was not good for India. Pujara, Kohli, and Rahane couldn’t resist the New Zealand pace attack effectively on a reserved day. Only Rishabh Pant counter-attacked them. But his innings were cut short when he was on 41 runs. After that, wickets kept falling and India only managed to score 170 runs in their second innings.

The target was 139 runs. Conditions, Players’ forms, Target- everything was ideal for the New Zealand team. Two wickets fell early courtesy of Ravi Ashwin. But that didn’t stop Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson to score runs. Therefore, the partnership between Ross Taylor and Skipper Kane Williamson proved to be the match-winning one. Ross Taylor hit the winning boundary and registered himself as the hero in the final moment of the most memorable test match.
