Earlier on Monday, a notification issued by Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed the “unanimous” election of Ramiz Raja as New PCB Chairman as Ehsan Mani stepped down from the post. He mentioned that he is thankful for the new opportunity and is looking forward to work with the team. He said that,
“I am thankful to all of you for electing me as the PCB chairman and look forward to working with you to ensure Pakistan cricket continues to thrive and grow stronger, both on and off the field,”

At National High-Performance Centre in Lahore, a special meeting took place for the election of the 36th PCB Chairman. The meeting was among all the PCB’s Board of Governors and was presided by Retired Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed. He also conducted the election and announced Raja’s selection.

Ramiz Raja and Asad Ali Khan were competing for a single seat as they were both nominated by the PCB Patron. The nominations took place on 27th August 2021. However, Raja succeeded and officially became the chairman today and would be leading PCB for the next three years.
He also mentioned that as an organization it is PCB’s duty to provide the cricketers the desired assistance and support which will help them is succeeding and fulfill the expectations of the fans. He said,
“One of my key focuses will be to help introduce in the Pakistan men’s cricket team the same culture, mindset, attitude, and approach that once made Pakistan one of the most feared cricket playing nations.”

Ramiz Raja as New PCB Chairman
He is a former Pakistan cricket team captain and was also a part of the squad of 1992 world cup winners. Hee also has been a famous Pakistani commentator on international levels and also has a YouTube Channel with the name “Ramiz Speaks.”. Raja has played around 255 international matches, scoring around 8,674 runs in total (1984-1997). Right now, he is also a part of the MCC World Cricket Committee.
The successful history includes serving as PCB’s Chief Executive from the year 2003 till 2004. This doesn’t end here, he has also represented Pakistan Cricket many times on international levels including the ICC Chief Executives’ Committee. Moreover, Ramiz Raja is also the fourth former Pakistan international cricketer to head the PCB as a chairman. The list includes,

He also mentioned that,
“Obviously, as a former cricketer, my other priority will be to look into the welfare of our past and present cricketers. The game has and will always be about the cricketers and, as such, they deserve more recognition and respect from their parent institution.”

Last week PCB publicly announced the stepping down of head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and the bowling coach Waqar Younus. Soon after this, the T20 squad was also made public. Since the nomination public saw him actively participating in the meetings. It also seems like that he stands at a significant position in T20 squad selection. As per the announcement, Matthew Hayden and Vernon Philander are selected as Pakistan’s coaches for the T20 World Cup by the new PCB head Ramiz Raja.

According to the PCB’s official website, Ramiz Raja as new PCB Chairman will be conducting a media conference. It will take place at the Bob Woolmer Indoor School, National High-Performance Centre.
