On 28th July 2021, NCOC conducted a meeting. Federal Educational Ministers offered some suggestions regarding exams of 9th&1st year classes as well as the extension of summer vacations. Last year in 2020, exams of all classes were cancelled and all the students were promoted to the next classes. And the reason was the increasing ratio of Corona cases in Pakistan. Do you want to know NCOC Decision Regarding Exams of 9th and 1st-year classes? And why students are not willing for physical exams? Well, this article will provide you with the answers to your questions, just read the full article.
Covid-19 and Educational System:
Covid-19 badly affected our educational system as well as other economical or industrial systems too. In this intense situation, the Government of Pakistan tried its best to continue the educational activities through online classes. And I would like to say here that this was the best step the Pakistani Government took for students’ education. We must appreciate it. However, students had to face some difficulties while attending online classes. But despite lockdown, the Pakistan government tried on the best level to continue the educational activities of students. It was not less than a blessing to provide education to students at their homes in intense conditions.
NCOC Decision Regarding Exams:
Federal education ministers put some points in front of NCOC regarding exams & summer vacations. The educational ministers recommended cancelling the 9th & 1st-year board exams and start a new academic session after the 15th of August.
Inter-Provincial Education Ministers have determined in the meeting performed on 28th July 2021.
- They decided that exams of all classes will take place as per agenda. It means exams of 10th class may be held from 30 July and followed by 1st year as well as 9th class exams.
- They clarified there could be no extension for the students, and schools will open on 2nd August 2021.
- However, they have given the right to the provincial ministers to extend the summer vacations. So the provinces will make the final decision about further closing as well as reopening of schools according to the COVID-19 ratio.
The NCOC has decided that the physical examinations of all classes will be on schedule and no class will be promoted without taking the exams.
So, now the students ought to put together themselves for the exams.
It is also important to mention here that no Education Minister of any province attended the NCOC meeting.
Why Students are against NCOC Decision Regarding Exams?
Students of 9th, as well as 1st – year classes, were expecting to be promoted to the next grades without physical exams or conducting exams online. But NCOC decision regarding exams has made them hopeless. Last year, the scene was the opposite. Students were very happy with Shafqat Mehmood but this year, the students are extremely unhappy due to the NCOC decision. Why students are unhappy with physical exams? Well, online classes were insufficient for the students to understand topics due to lack of intention as well as weak internet. And online classes cannot be equal to physical education. In schools/colleges, there is a complete setup of a learning environment that helps students in their learning as well as educational activities. Also in schools/colleges students focus more on their studies as compared to online education. That’s why students are not mentally ready for physical exams after attending online classes.
Students’ Protest on Twitter:
Many students are protesting on Twitter after the decision of NCOC physical exams and tweeting with the hashtag of Shafqat Mehmood and NCOC. The students’ protest shows that they are not mentally ready for the physical exams. The students are demanding for cancellation of exams as well as promotion to the next grades without exams.
Notification of Reopening of Schools in Punjab:
The Punjab government has decided that schools will reopen on 2nd August. Punjab Education Department has issued a notification regarding reopening of schools with Corona SOPs from 2nd August 2021. Children in all classes will come at a rate of 50%. School time for boys will be from 7:30 am to 12:30 and for girls from 7:45 am to 12:45 pm. The time for “Insaaf Afternoon School” will be from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
Now all students should prepare for exams instead of protesting against the Authorities’ decision. We wish all the best to all students for their exams. Must share your feedback by commenting here. Stay tuned with us for more latest updates.
