Kashmir Day Speech in English- Speech #1
Honorable Chief Guest, respected teachers, and dear fellows Assalam o Alaikum! Today I am going to speak on the topic of Kashmir Day. I’m thankful to all of you for giving me the chance to deliver my speech.
Kashmir Solidarity Day is also known as ‘Youm-e-Yakjehti-e-Kashmir. It has been celebrated in Pakistan since 1990 as a day of protest against Indian control over Kashmir. Kashmir is situated in the northernmost part of the Indian subcontinent, surrounded by the Himalayas. At the time of the partition of Subcontinent India, the state of Kashmir was ruled under the British Raj. At the time of separation, it was fixed that the Muslim Majority Areas would be given to Pakistan and Hindu Majority Areas would join India.
But the Indian Government forcefully occupied the state of Kashmir (a Muslim Majority State). The state of Kashmir was divided into three countries; Jammu Kashmir (controlled by India), Pakistan (Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan), and China (Aksai Chin). The partition of Kashmir between India and Pakistan had been the worst enmity and bloodshed. Three major wars have occurred between India and Pakistan for the independence of Kashmir– 1947, 1965, and 1999. Pakistan has supported Kashmir and Kashmiris since the 1947– Independence of Pakistan. Pakistan devotes its much more income to the military budget.
After the partition, when Pakistan came to know the thinking of India about Kashmir, it appealed to the United Nations about that hostility and cruelty. The United Nations held various resolutions for the issue of Kashmir but couldn’t fix it. After the partition, the Indian Government sent troops to occupy Kashmir. The Indian Army killed everyone who wanted to join Pakistan or seek an independent state. There has been bloodshed and cruelty in Kashmir since the day of partition.
Every Kashmiri wakes up with the hope of the morning, which brings independence. Kashmiris have been doing jihad for their state since the day of the partition. Pakistan has always raised its voice on the issue of Kashmir. Kashmiris have the faith that:
“It’s better to die Fighting For Freedom than living the life of a slave.”
In Pakistan, there is a national holiday observed on 5 February each year. At least we should pray for the relief of the hardships of Kashmiris. May Allah bring peace for the Kashmiris, Ameen! I’m ending my speech with this beautiful poem written by Raja Habib Jalib.
