Dilip Kumar is one of the most exceptional veteran Bollywood actors. The actor was not only idolized in India but had a huge fan following across the borders too. However, this morning (7th of July 2021), he breathed his last. Dilip Kumar died, leaving behind so many masterpieces that are forever going to cherish the memories of The First Khan.

Bollywood is saddened as Dilip Kumar died at 98 years of age. It was 7:30 A.M when the official Twitter account of the film producer announced the tragic news. Faisal Farooqui is his family friend; with extreme grief, he announced it. Moreover, his family performed the burial upon approval of the Government of Maharashtra. The burial took place at the Juhu Qabrastan.

The actor received a lot of love from Pakistan too. Prime Minister Imran Khan also tweeted with grief. He expressed sorrow at the big loss of the global film industry. He also called him the most versatile actor.

Dilip Kumar | an insight to the actor’s personal life

Dilip Kumar (Mohammed Yusuf Khan) was born in Peshawar, Pakistan, on 11 December 1922. However, back then, it was the N.W.F.P province of British India. He got his schooling from Barnes School, Deolali, Nashik. He was born in the same neighborhood as Raj Kapoor, one of his childhood friends. Later, they became colleagues too.

He was once in a relationship with Madhubala, but the actor then turned his ways and married actress Saira Banu in 1966. He married Asma Sahiba in 1981. However, the marriage lasted for two years only. Therefore, divorce parted their ways in 1983.

Career of Dilip Kumar

Initial success is sporadic in the film industry, be it Hollywood, Bollywood, or Lollywood. The same was with Dilip Kumar. Initially, he was unsuccessful. In 1944, his first film, “Jwar Bhata,” was released. However, the movie that actually smashed the box office records was “Jugnu.” Released in 1947, Jugnu stared the veteran actor and Noor Jehan.

After 1947, every movie was a hit. Mughal-e-Azam, Mela, Naya Daur, Ganga Jumna, Andaz, Deedar were huge hits and proved his successful career. His box office popularity reached the skies.

Awards and Honors

Awards- He received the best actor Filmfare awards 8 times! This is a huge achievement. He also won the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994. To encourage his devoted contribution to Indian Cinema, he received a lifetime achievement award. India’s National Film Awards honored him with it.

Honors- The legendary actor was honored for his efforts in the film industry unlimited times. However, the three major honors included Nishan-e-Imtiaz in 1998. He was honored with Padma Bhushan in 1991 and Padma Vibhushan in 2015.

The list of successes of the film producer and actor is infinite. Bollywood is surely going to suffer a huge loss due to his death. The audience has always associated the golden era with him.
