Is Noor Jahan’s “Zaalima Coca Cola” stolen by Bollywood?

Movie Bhuj: The pride of India is supposed to release on August 13th, a day before Pakistan’s Independence Day, on the OTT platform Disney plus Hotstar. The star cast includes Ajay Devgan, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, and Nora Fatehi. Whereas the director is Abhishek Dudhaiya. The remake of legend Noor Jahan’s song “Zaalima Coca Cola” took the internet by fire. The song received 10million views within a day. Shreya Ghoshal’s beautiful voice paired up with Nora Fatehi’s amazing moves has led the internet by storm.

However, the original song dates back to 1986, for a Punjabi Pakistani movie ‘Chan TeSoorma.’ Afterward, in 2016 Pakistani singers Meesha Shafi and Umair Jaswal also remade the song. So, this is the third remake. The actual debate is that people believe the song is stolen by Bollywood. However, the Bollywood remake has given credit to late Noor Jahan for the masterpiece. The “Zalima Coca Cola” remake is licensed to T-Series as well as EMI Pakistan.

As far as we know, the movie is based on Indo-Pak conflicts from 1971. Nora Fatehi is an Indian spy who goes to Pakistan to collect secret information. The rhetoric from the trailer depicts Pakistan as a wicked and threatening state. The plot already didn’t portray a good image of Pakistan, and a song from the same state left the viewers enraged.

Twitter war!

India Pakistan twitter war soon began after the release of the song. People are criticizing them because the movie “Bhuj: the pride of India” is an anti-Pakistan movie. However, the song is also from the Pakistani music industry. So, it does not make sense for an anti-Pakistan movie to use the song from the country against which the movie is. That is what the social war is about.

Twitterati is all ready for the intense debate and calls it “the most hypocrite act.” However, this could not be called stealing because they have originally mentioned the credits.
