Robin Uthappa joined Faf du Plessis on the crease. Robin Uthappa was brilliant in his last game and helped the team to qualify for the finals. Faf du Plessis stood at the one end. He scored 86 runs in 59 balls with the help of seven fours and three sixes and got out on the last ball of the innings. After this innings, he became the second-highest runs scorer of the IPL. Moeen Ali also chipped in with his brilliant cameo of 37 runs in 20 balls. He hits 2 fours and three sixes.

Kolkata Knight Riders Bowling

Kolkata’s bowling was below average in this game. Their bowlers conceded too many runs and also did not pick wickets at regular intervals. Sunil Narine was the only economical bowler and he picked 2 wickets as well. Shivam Mavi also picked one wicket. Lockie Ferguson was the most expensive bowler of the innings. He gave 56 runs in 4 overs.

Kolkata Knight Riders Batting

Kolkata in reply started slowly but they didn’t lose any wicket in the first ten overs. Shubham Gill and Venkatesh Iyer gave the opening stand of 91 runs. Venkatesh Iyer was dismissed after he score 50 runs in 32 balls. After this wicket, Kolkata’s batting collapsed. Their middle order struggled to make the partnership and lost wickets at the regular interval. Nitish Rana got out on 1 ball.

Sunil Narine was promoted to the batting order. But he also got out on the second ball. Dinesh Kartik was dismissed on 9 runs. Shakib Ul Hassan got out early as well. Rahul Tripathi got out on 2 runs in 3 balls. Shubham Gill got out on 51 runs on 43 balls with 6 fours.

After their opening, none of the batsmen enter the double-figure in the middle order that was the major cause of loss. They managed to score 165 runs in twenty overs with the loss of nine wickets.

  • Chennai managed to win the match by 27 runs and won their fourth title.

Chennai Super Kings Bowling

Chennai bowlers were brilliant with the ball. They picked wickets in the death overs. Though they didn’t get a wicket in their first 10 overs they managed to pick nine wickets in the rest of the ten overs. Shardul Thakur picked 3 wickets. Jadeja and Hazelwood picked two wickets and helped their team to win over Kolkata.

Faf du Plessis was awarded man of the match due to his contribution to the bat. He scored 86 runs in 59 balls.
