Lega Siaka and Assad Vala opened the innings for PNG. Both of them fell early in the innings. Assad Vala was dismissed after scoring 6 runs. Lega Siaka got out on 5 runs. Charles Amini got out on 1 run. Then, Simon Afzal got out on duck. Papua New Guinea lost 4 wickets and made only 17 runs in the powerplay. None of the batsmen from the top 7 reached the double-figure.

Shakib Ul Hassan was awarded man of the match for his all-around performance. He scored 46 runs in 37 balls with the bat helped his team to score an above par score and also picked 4 wickets in his 4 fours by giving only 9 runs.
