If you are a patriotic Pakistani and a sports fan, you must have watched the Tokyo Olympics Men’s Javelin final. We had a very first Pakistani in the final in this game. Millions of eyes were on the finalist Arshad Nadeem. He qualified for the finals of men’s Javelin. People were hoping that Pakistan’s 29 years no Olympic medal drought will end. Unfortunately, the journey of Arshad Nadeem in the Olympics ended with no medal as India’s Neeraj Chopra won gold. Arshad Nadeem finished in the fifth spot. Check out the staggering details of his throws.

An 85.16 meters throw of Arshad Nadeem booked his place in the final. It was the third-best of the day. The only two ahead were India’s Neeraj Chopra (86.65m) and world leader Germany’s Johannes Vetter (85.64m). Still, Arshad managed to top his group.

He was up against 11 contestants including India’s Neeraj Chopra was the favorite to win this medal.

J. Vadlejch of the Czech Republic won the silver medal.

V. Vesely of the Czech Republic won the bronze medal. Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem finished on the fifth spot in the Tokyo Olympics Javelin throw final.

12 contestants are participating in the Javelin throw final in Tokyo Olympics.

The starting time in Pakistan was 4 pm standard time.

The Final will be divided into two rounds. Each round had 3 throws. The top 8 will qualify for round two while four contestants will be eliminated after round 1. Then in Round 2, Six of the best of these throws will be analyzed.

Arshad Nadeem’s throw- His first throw did not get much alleviation. It still crossed 80 meters. It covered a distance of 82.40 meters

His second throw was a bigger disaster as he received a red flag.

His third throw was much better. It saved him from getting eliminated from the first round. The throw covered a distance of 84.62 meters. It allowed him to qualify for the Best of Eight- the Final’s last round.

His fourth throw covered 82.91 meters.

His fifth throw covered 81.978 meters.

Arshad’s last throw was an utter disaster. He got another red flag which eliminated him from the medal race.

Who is Arshad Nadeem? A little about the Javelin throw expert:

Born in Mian Channu, he has always been an exceptional athlete. He wanted to be cricket but couldn’t because of the lack of resources. The 24-year-old qualified for the final due to his amazing ability. When he topped the group, his name trended in Pakistan for over a day.

He started Javelin throw in 2015. Since then, he has represented Pakistan in many tournaments.

In his initial days, Arshad managed a throw of just 56m in the Wapda trials. The scouts on duty dismissed him, claiming he would never be a 60m+ athlete.

One man saw potential in him and inducted him into the training camp. Then, Arshad had won gold in the inter-department championship within a month. His throw was 69m. Later, the man who took him into the camp, Fiaz Hussain Bokhari, became his permanent coach.

Arshad Nadeem has made history. He is Pakistan’s first track-and-field athlete to directly qualify for the Olympics. He is also the first Pakistani to qualify for the final of any track-and-field event at the Games. That itself speaks of how good Arshad is.

Before the Olympics, Arshad Nadeem was already a four-time national champion. He has broken the national record three times, In his most successful year2019, he was the only representative of Pakistan at the World Athletics Championships which was held in Doha. There, despite breaking the national record with an 81.52m throw. he could not qualified for the final.

Sports personalities like Babar Azam wished him the best of luck for the final. Although he did not win any medal, like Talha Talib, he has won the hearts of millions of Pakistanis.
