The extra-judicial killing of Awami National Party’s leader Ubaidullah Kasi has jolted the whole of Baluchistan. Kasi’s murder has created a sense of horror in the province, and people are demanding justice. He was a member of Awami National Party’s Central Committee. The citizens are unidentified of the conspiracies taking their leaders to death. However, this murder has woken up the citizens of Balochistan and, in particular, the members of the Awami National Party.
What happened to ANP’s Leader?
Soon after they discovered the body, Twitter was full of tweets from all over Baluchistan demanding Justice for Ubaidullah Kasi. The Awami National Party’s outrage is exceeding. It strongly condemns the murder of its member. Moreover, the family is also grieving the loss of their head.
It actually started 40 days ago when the Awami National Party’s leader was abducted at gunpoint. On June 26, 2021, he was kidnapped from Balochistan’s city Kuchlak (Killi Kateer). Pishin’s assistant commissioner confirmed the news.
Soon after the news broke out, the ANP members protested against the illegal abduction of their leader. The family members and ANP activists protested against the murder of Kasi and blocked the Quetta-Chaman highway. Further, the ANP called out the government being responsible for the abducted person’s recovery. Moreover, following the protest, they gave the administration 72 hours to recover Kasi. The protest continued in the camps where a member said that,
“It is prime duty of the state and government to ensure early and safe recovery of the ANP leader,”

Dead body of Ubaidullah Kasi found in Saranan Tehsil!
On Thursday, 5th August 2021, the dead body of Ubaidullah was found from Saranan tehsil, a part of Balochistan’s Pishin district. Immediately after discovering, they sent the dead body to District Headquarters Hospital Pishin. According to the postmortem exam, Dr. Saleemullah Pathan of Civil Hospital informed that the body is “four days old.” Moreover, he considered “gunshots” the cause of death of Kasi as kidnappers did not receive the ransom, so they brutally murdered the ANP’s leader.

As soon as the news broke out, the ANP activists and his family members chanted anti-government slogans. They immediately rushed to the hospital. Further, the Party’s leaders and elderly tribal leaders also reached the residence of Ubaidullah. On the other hand, the ones who were protesting burnt tires. They chanted and asked to arrest the Killer of Ubaidullah Kasi near Manan Chowk. The protests made the road jam-packed.
MNA Mohsin Dawar also tweeted expressing grief. Further, he called the abduction “State’s policy against Pashtun.”
ANP demands Justice!
The General Secretary of ANP, Mian Iftikhar Hussain, considered it the Balochistan government’s failure to take timely action of the incident. Moreover, the ANP leaders called the deceased a political worker who always tried to work for peace. They asked for a complete investigation of the case.
Central President of ANP, Asfandyar Wali Khan, called it an act of terrorism. He also mentioned that enemies target the ANP leaders because they stand against terrorism. He said that,
“ANP would not back out from its principled stance on terrorism through such acts”.

It is worth mentioning that Asad Khan Achakzai was another senior Awami National Party leader who went through the same. 5 months after the abduction, somebody killed him. Lastly, Mian Iftikhar Hussain called such incidents a source of “insecurity” among Pakhtuns. He further added that Baluchistan’s politics is under threat through well-organized conspiracies. The protestors also blamed that kidnapping for ransom is a moneymaking business in Balochistan, creating fear among the citizens. Moreover, he mentioned that it is the government’s responsibility to protect and safeguard people’s lives.
