After the Announcement of T20 World Cup Squad by ACB, Rashid Khan Steps Down
ACB announced the Afghanistan T20 squad for world cup 2021 and declared Rashid khan as a Caption of the team. But after a while, World’s best spinner Rashid Khan steps down as the Team Captain. Rashid Khan was appointed as the captain of the team along with Veteran Wicketkeeper Mohammad Shahzad. Moreover, Farid Ahmad Malik and Afasr Zazai have been selected as the two standbys.
According to Rashid, the selection committee and Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACBC) didn’t take his consent before declaring the squad consisting of 18 players and naming two reserve players in a tweet. He further said that he has the right to make decisions about the selection of the squad as a team captain as well as the leader of the nation.
“With immediate effect, I have decided to resign as the captain of Afghanistan’s Twenty20 Side.”
“The selection committee and ACB (Afghanistan Cricket Board) has not obtained my consent for the team which has been announced by ACB media,” he said.
“As the captain and responsible person for the nation, I reserve the right to be part of the selection of the team.
Leading Bowler of Team Afghanistan, Rashid Khan was tapped to Captain the nation in the T20 tournament of July. Now Mohammad Nabi will lead Team Afghanistan in this ICC T20 World Cup.
