AB de Villiers Cricket – Domestic Career

Captaincy

Following South Africa’s exit from the 2011 World Cup, ABD was named as the captain of their ODI and T20I team in June. Retirement

AB de Villiers has remained captain of Team South Africa in all three formats. However, due to a series of injuries, he resigned from the Test captaincy. In 2017, he resigned from the captaincy of the national limited-overs games. In May 2018, he declared his retirement from all forms of international cricket. Although later in the year it was authenticated that he would not come back. On 19th November 2021, De Villiers declared his retirement from all forms of cricket.

On 17th February 1984, AB de Villiers was born to Abraham B de Villiers and Millie de Villiers in Warmbad (modern-day Bela-Bela), South Africa. Abraham Benjamin de Villiers has two brothers named Jan de Villiers and Wessels de Villiers. He narrated his childhood days as a “really relaxed lifestyle up there, where everyone knows everyone”. He got his education from Afrikaans Hoër Seunskool in Pretoria with his teammate Faf du Plessis, who is his good friend. Moreover, he is a High School Graduate. His father Abraham B de Villiers was a doctor who had played rugby union in his youth, and he uplifted his son to play sports as a child.
